The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, or COPPA, is a federal law that allows parents to control what information is collected online from their children under the age of 13. COPPA generally requires companies that collect personal information online from children under age 13 to provide notice of their data collection and use practices and obtain verifiable parental consent. In the educational context, schools can consent on behalf of parents to the collection of student personal information, but only if such information is used for a school-authorized educational purpose and for no other commercial purpose.

We want everyone to feel safe using WOOF – students, and also their teachers, schools, and their parents. The safest way to secure personal data is minimize what data are collected: thus, no personal identification data is collected from the students when they use WOOF. This is because we want students to feel safe and for teachers to get honest responses from the students.

This means that neither the classmates, the teacher, the school administration nor WOOF know the names of the students or what the specific students tell the dog when they WOOF. This ensures our consistent compliance with FERPA and with COPPA.

WOOF Basic is our free subscription for teachers and other educators working with students. It is free to sign up and WOOF with your class. WOOF Pro is our premium upgrade for schools and staff that work on wellbeing. Subscriptions are offered for a single class – monthly or for a full school year, for multiple classrooms, or for the entire school. 
With WOOF Basic, the class receives tools to check-in, understand their well-being, and work toward systematically improving their learning environment through engaging skill building activities. With WOOF Pro, the school leadership also receive the tools to develop wellbeing across the entire school community. 

With WOOF Pro School and Pro District, leadership access WOOF as a strategic school and district-wide resource, fostering a shared language and common direction for the entire school community.

WOOF Basic is free. As a teacher, you can always WOOF (conduct digital Classroom Check-ins with your class and understand what is affecting the class’s wellbeing in real time).

If you want to use WOOF’s tools to actively improve wellbeing, a WOOF Pro subscription is required.

A WOOF Pro subscription comes with an annual licensing fee for the enrolled classes.
