At the same time, students\u2019 experience of their class is closely connected to how they feel about school in general. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When the class community works well, it strengthens students\u2019 sense of belonging, safety, and motivation to participate in everyday school life. But when tensions, exclusion, or uncertainty arise in the class, it can quickly affect students\u2019 overall experience of school. In other words, the classroom community is not just a social side element of school life. It is a core driver of wellbeing and engagement. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This is also why we see that exercises and activities designed to strengthen the class community often have particularly strong impact in the middle grades. At this stage, students are navigating friendships, group dynamics, and their place within the community in new ways, making the social environment especially influential. Small interventions that help students see each other, collaborate, and build trust can therefore make a meaningful difference, not only for the social climate in the classroom, but for how students experience school as a whole.
